Terms and Conditions

Last updated

These terms apply when you use our website and when you buy safes, products or locksmith services from Houston Safe & Lock. Please read them along with our Privacy Policy. If a written quote, invoice, work order or sales agreement for your purchase says something different, that document applies to that purchase.

About us

Houston Safe & Lock (“we”, “us”) is a family-owned safe dealer and locksmith in Houston, Texas, and an authorized American Security (AMSEC) and Liberty Safe dealer. The business is operated by Houston Locksmith – AD, LLC and Houston Security Products, LLC, licensed by the Texas Department of Public Safety, Private Security Program, under licenses B19935701 and B31008001.

Using our website

  • Product details, specifications, photos and ratings on our site come from us and from the manufacturers, for general information. We work to keep them accurate and current, but mistakes happen and manufacturers change their products, so please confirm anything that matters to you before you buy.

  • The text, photos, graphics and design of this site belong to Houston Safe & Lock or to those who license them to us. Brand names and logos such as American Security, AMSEC and Liberty Safe belong to their owners.

  • Please don’t misuse the site: don’t try to break into it or overload it, copy its content or data with automated tools, or use its forms to send spam, false requests or anything unlawful. Information you send us must be accurate and yours to share.

  • Some Liberty safes link to the online store at houstonlibertysafe.com. Orders placed there follow that store’s own terms and policies.

Prices and quotes

  • Prices on our website are for the safe itself. Delivery, installation, bolting down and other services are quoted separately, because they depend on your address, your property, the floor and the route to where the safe will go. Sales tax is added where it applies.

  • Where a safe shows the manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) next to our price, the MSRP is for comparison only.

  • A quote or delivered total is good for the period stated on it. Until we accept your order, prices and availability can change.

  • If a price or a product detail on our site or in a quote is wrong because of an error, we’ll tell you, and you can go ahead at the correct price or cancel. If you’ve already paid for that item, we’ll refund it.

Orders, special orders and payment

  • Your order is accepted when we confirm it in writing or give you an invoice or receipt for it.

  • Safes we don’t have in stock, and custom colors, finishes, interiors, locks or options, are ordered from the manufacturer for you (special orders). Manufacturer lead times are estimates and can change. A special order may need a deposit, which we’ll tell you about before you order.

  • Payment is due as stated on your quote or invoice.

  • A safe becomes yours once it’s paid for in full. Once it’s delivered to you or picked up, it’s your responsibility.

Cancellations and returns

  • A special order can’t be canceled or returned once we’ve placed it with the manufacturer.

  • An order for an in-stock safe can be canceled before delivery. A restocking fee may apply, and we’ll tell you the amount before you order.

  • A safe that has been delivered, installed or bolted down can’t be returned, except as described under Damage and defects and Warranties below.

  • Charges for delivery, installation and other services that have been carried out aren’t refundable, except as described under Our workmanship below.

Delivery and installation

  • Our own crews deliver and install the safes we sell, within our delivery area around Houston.

  • Your quote is based on what you tell us about the address, the floor, the route from the street to where the safe will go (steps, stairs, slopes, doorways, gates and tight turns) and the placement. Please tell us about anything unusual; photos help. If the site turns out to be different, we may need to change the price with your approval, reschedule, or place the safe in the nearest suitable spot.

  • Please make sure the floor where the safe will stand can carry its weight. If you’re not sure, check with a builder or engineer before delivery. We may decline a placement we believe is unsafe for our crew, your property or the safe.

  • Bolting a safe down means drilling into your floor. Tell us before installation about anything in or under the floor we should avoid, such as water or gas lines, wiring, radiant heating or post-tension cables, and we’ll explain the options.

  • An adult (18 or older) who can approve the placement must be there. Please clear the route and secure pets. If no one is there or the site isn’t ready at the scheduled time, a return-trip charge may apply.

  • We protect floors and doorways along the route and work carefully. Please check the safe when it’s delivered and point out any damage to our crew before they leave, so it’s noted on the delivery paperwork.

Damage and defects

If a safe arrives damaged or defective, or our crew damages your property, tell us before the crew leaves or as soon as you notice it. We’ll work with you to put it right, whether that means repairing or replacing the safe or repairing the damage our crew caused.

Warranties

  • New safes come with the manufacturer’s warranty, on the manufacturer’s terms; coverage depends on the brand and model and is shown on each safe’s page. We’ll help you make a warranty claim. Some manufacturers must approve a repair before it’s done under warranty.

  • Fire and burglary ratings are the manufacturers’ and testing labs’ ratings under test conditions. No safe is fireproof or impossible to open: a safe lowers the risk of loss, but it isn’t insurance, so please insure your valuables.

  • Our workmanship: if something we installed, rekeyed or repaired doesn’t work properly because of our work, tell us and we’ll come back to fix it. Your invoice shows any written warranty for the job.

  • Apart from these warranties, any written warranty on your invoice and the rights the law gives you, we make no other promises about our products, services or website.

Locksmith services

  • Proof of identity and authorization. Before we open, rekey or change a lock, or make keys for a home, business, vehicle or safe, we’ll ask for photo ID and proof that you live there, own it or are authorized to have the work done: for example a lease, a utility bill or a property record for a home; the registration or title for a vehicle; written authorization from the owner or property manager for a business or a rental property; and proof of ownership for a safe. We may refuse or stop work if we can’t confirm this, or if a job seems unsafe or unlawful, and a service-call charge may still apply.

  • Prices and estimates. We’ll give you a price or an estimate before we start. A service-call charge may apply, calls outside our usual service area may have an added trip fee, and work after hours, on weekends or on holidays may cost more. If a job turns out to need more than expected, for example a lock that has to be drilled or replaced, we’ll explain and get your approval before going on.

  • Entry and existing hardware. We use non-destructive methods whenever we can, but some locks, doors and safes can only be opened by drilling or by replacing parts, and we’ll tell you before we do. We aren’t responsible for hardware that was already worn, damaged or defective, or for damage that can’t be avoided in an entry you’ve authorized.

  • Safe openings, combinations and keys. Opening a safe whose combination or key is lost requires proof of ownership and may involve drilling and repair. Please keep your combinations, codes and keys safe; replacing them is a paid service. Copies of restricted keys are made only for people the key system’s owner has authorized, with the documentation the system requires.

  • Hardware you supply. We can install locks and hardware you provide. Their quality and warranty are their manufacturer’s; our workmanship promise covers our installation.

  • Cancellations. If you cancel after our technician is on the way, or no one is there to meet them, a service-call charge may apply.

Calls, texts and emails

When you send us a request, you agree that we may contact you about it by phone, text or email, as you choose. You can ask us to stop at any time, or reply STOP to a text. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information.

Limitation of liability

As far as Texas law allows, we aren’t liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses, such as lost profits or the loss of items kept in a safe, and our total liability for any claim about a product or service is limited to the amount you paid for it. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for our own gross negligence or willful misconduct, or your rights under the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices–Consumer Protection Act or other laws that can’t be waived.

Disputes and governing law

If you have a problem, please contact us first; most issues can be resolved with a phone call. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas. A dispute we can’t resolve together will be decided in the state or federal courts in Harris County, Texas, unless the law gives you the right to bring it elsewhere.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time; the date at the top of this page shows when they last changed. The terms in effect when you place an order or book a service apply to that order or service.
